in a unique outdoor public art exhibit
Garner Art Around Town was a community driven public art project that used painting to illustrate community and natural beauty and bring joy, healing, and civic engagement.
The exhibit featured 23 canvases painted by artists from Garner and Raleigh on display from mid August through November 2021. The artwork was displayed outdoors in Downtown Garner and at select park locations for 24/7 viewing on a walkable loop.
The Garner Art Around Town public art exhibit wrapped up in December, culminating in an online auction – local art enthusiasts were encouraged to bid on and own a local piece of art. Artists received 75% of the final bid on their artwork, with the remainder benefiting the Downtown Garner Association’s ongoing public art initiatives.
To celebrate the end of this unique public art experience, DGA hosted an artist reception to celebrate the Art Around Town participants and promote the online auction of their artwork at the Garner Performing Arts Center.
