Describe your painting:
This painting was inspired by the Garner G – Squad dance team. The Garner G – Squad offers the opportunity for seniors to “Keep It Moving,” stay active and get involved in fun dancing activities and performances. At the senior center a diverse group of folks are able to make new friends, establish great relationships and enjoy the many recreational features that Garner has to offer. The bright colors in this painting mimic the colorful costumes, enthusiasm and enjoyment the G-Squad brings to Garner.
What inspired you?
I was inspired to do this painting because of the fun and friendships I’ve made in Garner while participating with the G squad.
What is your background as an artist?
I retired to the area after a long career in art education and school administration. I own SJ Hall Art & Design in Raleigh NC. I am an abstract painter and textile surface designer.
Do you have a connection to Garner or did you learn anything new about Garner as a result of your painting?
Garner appreciates the arts and recreation activities for their residents. Reviving old downtown and fusing the old structures with new makes it a welcoming community.
