Describe your painting:
Community is important and Garner is one of the most welcoming communities that you will ever encounter. Whether you are shopping, seeing a show at the performing arts center, or enjoying some fresh air at one of the local parks, Garner is a great place to be!
What inspired you?
Throughout my time living in North Carolina, I have felt most welcomed in the town of Garner. There are so many wonderful people and so many exciting things to do. I wanted to showcase this strong sense of community in my piece.
What is your background as an artist?
I am a current student at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia studying animation and illustration. Before starting school at SCAD, I was a member of the National Art Honors Society at Garner Magnet High School. I have always had a strong passion for art and love exploring new mediums and challenging myself. I am most known for creating 3D environments in Maya or watercolor and acrylic paintings.
Do you have a connection to Garner or did you learn anything new about Garner as a result of your painting?
Ever since I started participating in the shows at the Garner Performing Arts Center, I realized how welcoming and friendly the people of Garner really are and I gained an even stronger connection while completing this piece.
